Get Down America! A 4th of July Reflection

We’re late comers to the establishment of the USA. Napoleon sold the Louisiana Colony to the United States in 1803…28 years after the 13 Colonies declared independence from Britain. Being non-English speakers who became proponents of the Napoleonic Code, our transition to becoming Americans wasn’t easy. Demarcated in 1812, Louisiana became the 18th state in the union. So we entered the democratic experiment.

After 221 years of Louisiana being a part of the experiment, democracy has been increasingly called into question . While the 2nd amendment is being advanced and legislated with more freedoms, the 1st amendment is experiencing set backs.

Millions are being spent to further gerrymandering, the separation of church and state has become blurred, freedom of speech is being suppressed, and the right to peacefully assemble is being reinterpreted.

Our elected officials are increasingly becoming representatives of a small sector of private interest rather than the public good. Resultantly, the wealth gap widens and with it the polarization between the haves and the have nots. Needless to say, our state has its problems. However this November we have the opportunity to vote for a Commander in Chief that can give fresh direction to these American states.

His citizenship has been called into question. Yes…he is an illegal alien. However, the axis of the universe tilted creating an intergalactic portal that forced him onto our planet. Trapped in a world he never made, he’s designed a platform to benefit all Americans. Get Down America and cast your vote for Howard the Duck!

A proponent of an economic bill of rights, Howard will tackle Insurance Reform, an equitable tax code, regulating price gouging, lowering interest rates, providing free state universities, and increasing wages. In balancing the Federal budget Howard has an America first approach. Whereas most of the Federal Budget is spent on military, Howard is going to ration a greater percentage to infrastructure, health, education, clean energy, and transportation.

On the line about who to vote for in November? Howard may be our only hope!

  • In 1967 Howard the Duck creator Steve Gerber ran a fictitious presidential campaign for Howard in Marvel Comics. Marvel sold campaign buttons. The buttons have become collectors item for fans of the genre.

Happy 4th Y’all!!!!
