Five Minutes of Fame
As a tour guide I’ve had the pleasure of showing several celebrities our city. My favorite celebrity guest entailed more than having them on tour, I was in their production! I was contacted by a producer from Bravo and was asked to be on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. All of the long hours and hard work striving to be the best bicycle tour business in New Orleans paid off.
When I first met the cast members I confessed to them that I hadn’t seen the show before. They were all stunningly beautiful, but also really down to earth. Cynthia Bailey laughed and told me that was fine. I thoroughly enjoyed my time chatting with them between takes and while riding the bicycles around the French Quarter.
After the show aired people asked me about Kenya Moore. They reported that she was one of the more difficult personalities on the show. I really couldn’t see what they were talking about. She was a complete sweetheart. I really enjoyed connecting with her in the conversations we had.
Being on the Real Housewives of Atlanta ultimately taught me about the power of influence. Before the episode even aired people started to book our tours. Cythia Bailey posted a picture of herself on one of our bicycles on her instagram account. People saw her on the bicycle and started to book tours with us.
Needless to say after the episode aired it brought national attention to Flambeaux Bicycle Tours. As we booked up, people requested to be on the tour with me, being that I gave them the tour. Local social media influencers can charge a pretty penny if you want your business to be featured on their accounts. In this instance not only was I on their social media and cable television show, I was the one being paid to be featured. Double win!
